Characters: Cagalli Starchaser, Dark Elf Cleric and Rogue; and Tale McKnight, (Formerly) Human Warlock
Cagalli is the daughter of a reincarnated Goddess of Light and the descendant of a God of Dark.
She grew up not knowing any effect that this mix of bloodlines might have, spending most of her childhood exploring deep tombs and ruins across the world with her parents.
Cagalli became a curious explorer and avid treasure hunter. As she got older, she was dragged into a civil war caused by her father's old adventuring party before he retired, fighting hard for what she believed. Near the end of the war, she awakened a tremendous power in her mixed bloodlines, which came at a cost. After she used this power too much, a surge of magic pulled her away from her world.
When she next awoke, Cagalli found herself in a strange world with vastly different technologies, cultures, and landscapes. Most of her magic had also gone along with a lot of her battle prowess. Soon after she came under the protection of the goddess Eilistraee, eventually becoming a devoted cleric. With her newfound insight, Cagalli eventually discovered that she was trapped in an inevitable cycle that would warp her into another world after she recovered enough of her magical energy.
Tale McKnight was once human. A devoted paladin of Torm and a knight of a holy order that protected the world of Eldriss. However, an archdevil laid waste to the material plane. As the rest of Eldriss burned, the mortal races of Eldriss stood their ground at the city of Bastion and eventually slayed the archdevil at last. However, Tale had fallen in that final, fateful battle. He was given a second chance at life, granted pseudo-immortality in service to the Raven Queen as a Reaper to collect the vast number of souls that were lost and scattered when Eldriss burned. He now serves as a warlock under her command to hunt down the countless and restless spirits that plague Eldriss to this day.
