Character: Droop, Goblin Demonologist Warlock, with the Cryonomicon and the Thermonomicon
Droop is a goblin unlike any other. Fearless to a fault and reckless to lethal extents, Droop is a goblin unlike any other. A nexus of chaos and luck, she started her career as a hanger-on with a group of adventurers, and especially the wizard of their group as Droop had an aptitude for magic.
During an encounter with the Archfey of Prismeer, Zybilna, Droop ditched the party and stuck around the Archfey’s palace to make a pact with the Zybilna who proved to be the Archmage Tasha in disguise as she is currently hiding from her many enemies. As part of the pact, Droop was reborn a human with Tasha’s likeness and given Tasha’s great work: the Demonomicon of Iggwilv. Tasha intended to use the goblin as bait to throw off her enemies, but Droop being herself survived every encounter so far, including a meeting with the Demon Lord Graz'zt.
Droop left Feywild after years of studying the Demonomicon for its secrets having become an expert in Demonology while shattering her mind and losing her sanity along the way. She frequently uses her warlock powers to bind demonic to her will, a habit that has embarrassed many demons and made her many enemies in the Abyss.
During her time in the Prime, she recklessly dived into a pool of ichor deep within a cave that linked to an ancient entity of the Far Realm and immediately died again only to be reborn as a Verdan, a type of durable mutant goblin, making her effectively immortal as anytime she dies, she emerges once more from her corpse about half the size she was previously. Though if she dies again before fully growing back to size that would be the end of her... If she didn’t also have a clone awaiting her death in Prismeer from a wish granted by Zylbilna.
Pictured here, Droop is hosting a tea party for the Cryonomicon, the Thermonomicon, and her own sentient tome, though the books make exceptionally poor tea drinkers. Her quasit familiar Squeak was stuffed into a butler’s outfit and made to serve the party, to its immense displeasure.
About the Cryonomicon:
Bound in the scales of a glacial monstrosity and etched with ancient runes of frost, the Cryonomicon is said to hold the power of absolute cold, but the frigid tome keeps its glacial pages frozen shut, waiting for a mage to truly embrace the truth of ice and forsake fire magic.
The Cryonomicon is calm, patient, and coldly calculative, if not sometimes judgmental and sarcastic. It values logical, clearly laid out plans and admires mortals who show restraint and composure. It dislikes impulsiveness and recklessness and rejects mortals whose actions are ruled by anger or avarice.
About the Thermonomicon:
Bound in the scales of a volcanic monstrosity and etched with ancient runes of fire, the Thermonomicon is said to hold the power of endless heat, but the fiery tome burns those who seek to steal its blazing secrets, waiting for a mage to truly embrace the truth of fire and forsake cold magic.
The Thermonomicon is restless, impatient, and blazingly impulsive, if not sometimes reckless and inconsiderate. It values bold, spontaneous action and admires mortals who are decisive and creative. It dislikes apathy and indecisiveness and rejects mortals whose actions are ruled by sloth or envy.
