Creature Spotlight: Iron Elemental
Iron is the most abundant metal in the cosmos and the most common element on the world of mortals. Relatively easy to find in large quantities on the surface of the world, iron was used by ancient craftspeople who mastered the process of smelting it to create powerful tools and weapons that shaped the course of history.
Iron elementals walk the world of mortals with confidence, knowing that the element they embody is never too far away, either within rocks and mineral deposits, or in the creations of mortals and even in the bodies of most living creatures.
Despite its abundance, iron has several unusual properties. It is one of only four elements that are ferromagnetic (attracted to magnets and able to become a magnet) at standard conditions, and one of only two elements (the other being cerium) that make sparks when you strike it.
Iron creates remarkably strong alloys with many other elements, and iron elementals love teaming up with other elementals to form new compounds, especially various types of steel with their buddies the carbon elementals.
