Characters: Amelia, Human Artificer; and Xylus, Human Bard
Amelia was born with magical powers into a world where powerful groups of individuals either attempt to control or destroy those with such gifts. She was saved and protected by a group of well-connected spies and assassins that have dedicated themselves to helping those with magical powers like Amelia's. It was in this organization that she met Xylus' twin sister Enez, another girl with magical powers, and they became best friends.
Xylus became jealous at having his sister stolen away from him and began to follow them around. This led to Amelia considering him a threat and their first meeting being with her putting a knife to his throat. After Enez barely managed to save Xylus’ life, the three started what would become years of friendship, and for Amelia and Xylus an eventual partnership.
While Xylus has no magical powers, he is cunning and charming in his own right and has the skills to keep up with those who do have magical gifts. And now, after years of showing affection and care for Amelia, the goddess of love has taken notice of Xylus and on the day of their wedding has blessed their union and bestowed him with some of her divine power.
