Kir, Human Ranger, and the Catilisk – D&D Character

A reckless human ranger and the dangerous Catilisk I drew for Cute Creatures Compendium 2! https://www.drivethrurpg.com/en/product/521248/cute-creatures-compendium-2
Character: Kir, Human Ranger, and the Catilisk
Kir is an adventurous youth with more wonder than sense. He recklessly faces peril when danger threatens those places or peoples in harmony with nature and presented the opportunity to explore something new or old, he finds oftentimes heeds his curiosity more than his caution. Such was the case when he first met the rare Catilisk, with whom he spent a great deal of time in the care of before he was restored.
Kir was born to a life at the blacksmith’s anvil before a fiery fate brushed his life. When he was twelve, fire consumed his arm and left much of his body scarred in a terrible accident. A passing druid mended what they could, but when it became clear Kir would need more than simple healings could afford, his parents entreated the healer to resort to extreme methods if necessary. Moved by them, the druid took him to a nearby grove and laid the boy onto the cool moss under starry sky. Then, cutting a sprig from their own staff, they began a night-long ritual.
In the morning, Kir awoke to see dappled sunlight with two eyes and spied the druid resting in meditative repose. To Kir’s shock, his lost arm once more felt something other than pain, and as he turned to the restored limb, Kir started with awe and wonder. Where blackened flesh had been, now heartwood with whorling patterns in the grain had taken the shape of his arm.
In all, his arm and part of his face had been restored in the ritual, grown from magical heartwood and bonded to his very self. Over the next several years he was tutored in how to use the magic of the land to shape his own arm, and as adolescence turned to young adulthood, the embers of Kir’s interest in the forge cooled even as his passion for nature blossomed. Eventually, despite his family’s wishes, he laid his hammer down and took to the road.
About Catilisks:
Likes: cats, napping, snuggling
Dislikes: swimming, spoiled food, loud and repetitive noises
Legends say that the cry of a desperate cat can summon the catilisk, a feline monstrosity with a serpent-like body that slithers unseen and reveals itself to transform those who made cats cry into cats themselves.
Adventurers who have encountered a catilisk in the wild describe the feline monstrosity as remarkably cat-like in its behavior and not inherently dangerous, save for its catifying gaze that can turn even the mightiest heroes into ordinary cats. However, the catilisk is known to spare those brave few adventurers who manage to befriend it, usually by offering it good food and proving themselves allies of all feline creatures.
