Characters: Lala, Vanzal Alien Princess and Ambassador; and Zachary, Captain of the United Earth Marine Corp
It had been twenty-two cycles around the planet’s sun since she was born, she’d probably be over thirty cycles of her own sun if they had used that to mark age. Lala probably knew this planet better than her own. Her entire life had been spent watching her mother, Kala, work with the Terrans. Humans they called themselves in order to lift them up. The Humans fascinated her. Her mother explained to her that this was the first time the Vanzal had been called up to bring a species into the fold, part of the galactic community. Now she was about to go to descend and actually meet them. She was ecstatic with excitement.
Zachary came from a military family. He had been raised to prove his worth in the marines. It left him with a relaxed attitude and a sense of purpose. He fought in the Insurrection Wars, which cost him an eye, but earned him a medal. But he was an Ermey, nothing would stop him. When the new combat armor was introduced with its advanced targeting system being tested, Zach was among the first to sign up. Field-tested and ready for combat, Zach strapped into his new armor only to find out aliens were real, and his platoon would be responsible for their princess’ security while they visited.
